Wingfield celebrates another strong year of results
The Wingfield community is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Year 11 students, who have once again produced impressive results across the board.
This year, 64% of Year 11 students secured at least a grade 4 in both English and Maths, with 49% achieving a strong pass at grade 5 or above. These figures continue the high standards set by last year’s performance.
Wingfield has always taken pride in offering a broad and balanced curriculum, and it was particularly pleasing to see strong average grades across a wide range of subject areas. Dance led the way with an exceptional cohort average of 6.9. This is just a tenth of a grade short of every student reaching a grade 7; the equivalent of a former GCSE grade A. Other impressive subject averages included Separate Sciences (6.6), Art (6.5), Drama (6.3), and both Sports Studies and Health & Social Care (6.2).
“These results reflect the dedication and resilience of our students, supported by the commitment and expertise of our teaching staff,” said Headteacher Jordon O’Neill. “They open the door to higher-level post-16 courses and, ultimately, greater career opportunities.”
Several subjects also showed remarkable improvement compared to last year. Dance rose by an impressive 1.2 grades, while both Sports Studies and Music improved by 0.9.
“As a staff team, our priority is to maximise success in every subject area,” added Miss O’Neill. “When we see such significant improvements, we know it’s not just about better numbers on a page, it’s about creating better opportunities and brighter futures for our young people. Every member of staff is committed to working tirelessly to achieve better life chances for our young people.”
